DriverMetrics Launches Online Driver Coaching Programme

DriverMetrics has launched an online version of its Driver Coaching Programme.

The programme is based on the popular classroom based version, which has trained over 1,000 professionals over the past 15 years, and was ‘Highly Commended’ at the 2019 Brake UK Fleet Safety Awards.

Facilitated by DriverMetrics Research Director, Dr Lisa Dorn and hosted via online conferencing, the programme offers driver trainers and risk management professionals an in-depth understanding of DriverMetrics Risk Assessment reports and the use of coaching techniques to address the behavioural issues in driver risk.

Participants will learn how to understand the psychological principles that underpin driver behaviour; identify the behavioural factors that influence crash risk; interpret DriverMetrics® reports to an advanced level and discover practical strategies that influence driver behaviour and mitigate risk. Finally, all participants will be given practical advice on devising and implementing a coaching goals plan.

DriverMetrics Publishes White Paper on Time Pressure and Driver Risk

DriverMetrics has published a new white paper addressing Time Pressure and Driver Risk.

With research demonstrating that time-related demands are associated with higher stress levels and near-accidents, time pressure is a key issue for managers responsible for employee driver safety.

Written by DriverMetrics Research Director, Dr Lisa Dorn, the white paper explains how time pressure influences driver behaviour at work and the relationship between time pressure, driver stress, performance and crashes.

A series of recommendations are provided to enable fleet managers to more effectively mitigate time pressure risk from a behavioural and organisational perspective.

Time Pressure and Driver Risk is now available via free download on the DriverMetrics website.

DriverMetrics Launches Personal Coaching

DriverMetrics has  launched its new Personal Coaching service for drivers.

Delivered by a DriverMetrics accredited coach on a one-to-one basis – by telephone or online conferencing – DriverMetrics Personal Coaching offers a targeted approach to changing high risk driver behaviours, which is informed by the Driver Risk Index assessment, and telematics data (if available).

Yvonne Newton, Lead DriverMetrics Coach said “Our driver coaching has always focused on changing high risk driver behaviours. Following extensive development work, we are now able to deliver these outcomes via telephone coaching. This offers a host of advantages to our clients, including the ability to incorporate ‘real world’ driving experiences, together with reduced costs, downtime and environmental impact.”

Driver engagement is critical to the success of any driving coaching programme, and DriverMetrics Personal Coaching is receiving very positive feedback.

“I found the programme a great way to tackle the things that were leading to my bad driver habits. Yvonne helped me look at areas for improvement that I that I initially didn’t realise that I had to work on. The goals were broken down in to bite-sized chunks that were easy to be retained whilst on the road and made me feel comfortable that the end goal was easily achievable. Yvonne did a great job of listening to my concerns/issues whilst driving & guiding myself to discovering these goals. Now that I have completed the programme, I do feel that my driving self awareness has improved. Thanks to Yvonne I am on the way to improving my all round safety on the roads.”  – Grant Anderson, Retail Support Representative, Retail Marketing Group
