Our Story

From one research question to a global programme.

DriverMetrics began as a research project at Cranfield University, trying to understand what causes drivers to crash. That research, backed by Unilever, led to the Driver Risk Index being created in 2005, the first tool built specifically to profile behavioural risk through psychometrics rather than the industry-standard tests of knowledge or skill.

Growing in scale and profile, DriverMetrics® was spun out from Cranfield University in 2013.

Today, our scientifically validated Driver Risk Index™ assessments are used directly by hundreds of organisations worldwide, including multi-national corporations, the UK emergency services sector and the logistics industry, or in partnership with other fleet risk management companies and telematics providers.

Our predictive behavioural intelligence report provides a unique insight into a driver’s risk tendencies and is a vital component of any truly comprehensive risk management strategy.
